Visual Arts Camp - America 250: A Journey Through Art
The Pennyroyal Arts Council is excited to announce the return of its smARTS Visual Arts Camp, taking place June 1–5, 2026, at the historic Alhambra Theatre. Designed for students in grades 1–12, this engaging week-long camp invites young artists to explore creativity while learning about influential American artists.
Led by resident artist Paula Gieseke, the 2026 camp theme, “America at 250: A Journey Through Art,” celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States by introducing students to the visionaries who shaped American art. Campers will explore the bold Pop Art of Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring, the expressive realism of Georgia O’Keeffe and Wayne Thiebaud, and the innovative work of Jasper Johns. Through hands-on instruction and creative exploration, students will develop their own artistic voice while creating original works inspired by these iconic artists.
The camp offers two age-based sessions as well as a full-day option:
Session 1: 8:00–11:00 AM | Grades 1–4 | $100
Session 2: 12:00–3:00 PM | Grades 5–12 | $100
Full Day (Both Sessions): 8:00 AM–3:00 PM | $200
Students attending half-day sessions should bring a snack and water bottle. Full-day campers should bring a snack, water bottle, and lunch.
The smARTS Visual Arts Camp is part of the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible arts education and hands-on creative experiences for young people in the community.

Hopkinsville Chamber Orchestra and Chorus Inaugural Concert
The Hopkinsville Chamber Orchestra and Chorus represent the highest level of classical performance in Christian County. Born from a shared vision to elevate the local arts scene, this ensemble combines world-class guest artists, regional professionals, and our community’s most talented vocalists and instrumentalists to create "big city" musical experiences right in the heart of the Pennyrile. The vision came to life through a partnership between the Pennyroyal Arts Council and First United Methodist Church. Under the direction of Heejung Park, it has grown into a shared effort uniting local musicians and voices—creating a meaningful and lasting musical legacy for the community.
The debut performance of the Hopkinsville Chamber Orchestra and Chorus is more than a concert—it’s a beginning and an open invitation for all who have longed for a place to play, sing, and belong.

SUMMER MURAL ARTS CAMP
Experience the vibrant intersection of art and community at our Summer Mural Art Camp: Soul Food, held from June 22–26, 2026. Under the expert guidance of instructor Mackenzie R. Creative, students in Grades 5–12 will dive into the creative process for a registration fee of $100. To guarantee a truly hands-on and personalized experience where every artist can leave their mark, the camp is strictly limited to 10 spots, making this an exclusive opportunity to bring a collective vision to life. Students will gain experience with professional tools, including various paint rollers, flat and round brushes, and techniques for large-scale painting.
About the Project
Inspired by the cubist style of Picasso’s "Three Musicians," this mural celebrates the intersection of our community’s agricultural roots and its rich cultural history.
This week-long smARTS Program adventure offers an engaging morning session tailored to grades 5-12.
Camp begins at 9 AM and will last until 12 PM daily.
Participants should dress in clothing suitable for art-making, as things might get a bit messy. Upon registration, a link to the participant information form, including the camp terms and conditions, will be included in your order confirmation email. Missoula Children's Summer Camp Performance: Peter & Wendy
Founded in 1970, Missoula Children’s Theatre is internationally recognized for its unique educational model, which allows local children to rehearse and perform a full musical production in just one week. This residency provides an exceptional opportunity for students to build confidence, teamwork, and performance skills while working alongside professional theatre artists.
About the Camp
Get ready to take center stage! The Missoula Children's Theatre is coming to the Alhambra Theatre, and they are looking for local stars to fill approximately 50–60 roles in the production of Peter and Wendy.
Dates: July 20–25, 2026, the world-renowned Missoula Children’s Theatre returns for a week-long residency to stage the timeless adventure of Peter and Wendy. On Monday, they’re cast as characters. Rehearsal times will be given out based on roles assigned, with the first rehearsal being on Monday after casting. The final performance is on Saturday, July 25th at 2:00pm.
Casting: Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Alhambra Theatre at 10:00 am.
Performance: Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
This program provides a unique opportunity for local students to experience a full-scale theatrical production from audition to curtain call in just six days.

When Captain Hook sends his right-hand man, Smee, on a quest to capture Peter Pan, it’s seemingly business as usual…at first. Little does Hook realize what fantastic adventures await him and his pirate posse in their search for the elusive Peter Pan. Mistaken identities, ever-morphing clouds, a classy crocodile, some very lost boys, and a fickle shadow all add to the mayhem. Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Darling embark on a quest of their own and find themselves trekking everywhere from Hawaii to the North Pole in search of their three missing children. With help from the earth-friendly Neverlanders, exotic Neverland creatures, and faithful Tinker Bell, the Darling children are found, disputes are ultimately resolved, and everyone–including Captain Hook–finds a place where they truly belong.

March 2026 Youth Art Month (YAM)
Youth Art Month (YAM) is an annual observance in the United States that emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages support for quality school art programs. RISING, a documentary from Team Kentucky, tells the story of the strength and resilience of Eastern Kentuckians as they undertake the most ambitious rebuilding effort in the nation following the historic flooding that took place in the summer of 2022. From devastation to hope, this story chronicles how an idea became a reality as state, federal, and local partners work to build survivors new homes on abandoned coal mine sites – out of the floodplains and protected from future floods. RISING shows the world what is possible and proves that, by working together, we can rise above any challenge.

The Shining
"The Shining" is a 1980 psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on Stephen King's novel.
