Directors Report
April 2021
March has been a whirlwind for me and our staff! We hosted 5 workshops, each Tuesday evening with YOGA on stage each Tuesday morning. Our school superintendent Chris Bentzel filmed a book reading from The Tiny Read, on the Alhambra stage. Heritage Chrsitian Academy moved in for a week-long residency, performing Tarzan on Friday and Saturday evening. We hosted The Compass Awards for the Chamber of Commerce, showed 2 documentary films and had an outstanding LIVE at the Alhambra performance, Dailey and Vincent. Becky and MacKenzie have redesigned our website and it looks so professional. The Giving is Always in Fashion POP-UP shop is up and going each Saturday from 10:00-1:00, which is now benefiting Grace & Mercy, Boys & Girls Club, and Aaron McNeil, along with the Alhambra. The theatre has received $2500 to date. Please share the social on this event, it would be super to give these other non-profits a boost toward their mission.
Having our patrons back in the theatre and seeing and hearing LIVE performances and music is FANTASTIC. I hope to see some of you all at our upcoming events. Board support at our events is so important.
We are working very hard to create a successful and fun event with the Picnic with the Pops. Our committee helped formulate some great ideas and we hope to have an eclectic, artistic offering to help us raise funds. We will need some creative hands to work on silent auction descriptions and set up prior to the event. We have talked to the band and they are super excited about the evening.
Top on my list in April is to complete the SVOG grant and submit it. I have spent hours listening to our colleagues from all around the country, and while the process has been quite frustrating, the camaraderie felt and friends made this past year through NIVA keeps me motivated to keep going forward, and to never give up.
You can be sure that our small but mighty staff feels just the same way!
Thank you all for your service to the Arts Council, help us spread the word about upcoming events.

Public Health Vaccination Campaign: Kicks off Tuesday
The City of Hopkinsville, Christian County Health Department, and Pennyroyal Arts Council collaborated to launch the “Get the Shot, take a Shot” public health campaign.
Starting Tuesday, anyone who receives their first or second COVID-19 vaccination and posts a selfie with the hashtag #VaccinateHopkinsville on their social media pages will be entered in a drawing to take a half-court shot at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville to win four season passes at the Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center for the summer.
Website
Kenzie and I met on Friday for a website boot camp. Out of necessity, we switched from WordPress to a SquareSpace platform with a crude launch earlier in the year. The current version includes PACI branding with content and forms fully baked. It’s a work in progress.
We were able to save 5K in marketing expenses by using in-house talent for the design, copywriting, and development rather than outsourcing the otherwise large investment and project.
